Visit a Tomb

India has a number of amazing sites to visit. One of those sites is the Tomb of Shah Wilayat. It is a large complex that shows the wonderful architecture of the Tughlaq during the British era. It was built in the early 17th century during the reign of Shah Jahan, ruler of the Mogul Empire, by Diwan of Narnaul. The Tomb of Shah Wilayat is located just next to the mausoleum of Ibrahim Khan Suri in the city of Narnaul, part of the Mahendragarh District.

Altho was built during the reign of Shah Jahan, the tomb was originally built during the reign of Feroz Shah Tughlaq and different things has been added during a number of years, latest was during the British era.

A hemispherical dome surmounts the tomb itself and the interior of that dome has the form of a perfect square with paintings in many colors and motives.

There is another tomb not too far away as well known as the Chor Gumbad. It was built by Afghan Jamal Khan and it was going to serve as his tomb. The word Chor means thief and it’s gotten that name because a lot of robbers and thieves used the monument as a hideout during the Feroz Shah Tughlaq era. Most people living close to this area at that time really should have invested in had it existed in that time.

Needless to say, these two locations are perfect to visit if you’re interested in old architecture and really want to see how it has evolved as time passed. Even if you’re just interested in seeing some amazing structures you can’t go wrong seeing these two amazing buildings. So anyone travelling between Delhi and Jaipur should really consider taking a small detour to Narnaul, it will be worth it.
